These are my favorites for lower elementary age kids! They love guessing why the old lady is swallowing everything。

I read this with my 5 year old and he loved it。 We both loved that in the end she made a snowman。 This is a cute story and we would read it again together。

Genre: Comedy and Humor, Poetry, Songs, Verse Grade: PreK-2I like this book。 It is a silly repetitive catchy story with some onomatopoeia。 The story keeps the reader guessing why the old lady swallowed all the things that she did。 As a reader you can try to figure it out as you read and get closer to the end and see if you're right。 Genre: Comedy and Humor, Poetry, Songs, Verse Grade: PreK-2I like this book。 It is a silly repetitive catchy story with some onomatopoeia。 The story keeps the reader guessing why the old lady swallowed all the things that she did。 As a reader you can try to figure it out as you read and get closer to the end and see if you're right。 。。。more

My kids have been on there was an old lady kick。 This one was silly like many of the others。 This is also a good book for beginner readers。 This is also an AR book for anyone who might want to know。

This book is a funny nursery rhyme that would make any child laugh。 This book is about a lady that swallowed items。 Each item she swallowed was crazy items, and throughout the book you'll wonder why is she swallowing these items。 In the end, she swallowed the items to build a snowman。 However, I love the rhymes in the book, it show kids words that rhyme together。 This book is a funny nursery rhyme that would make any child laugh。 This book is about a lady that swallowed items。 Each item she swallowed was crazy items, and throughout the book you'll wonder why is she swallowing these items。 In the end, she swallowed the items to build a snowman。 However, I love the rhymes in the book, it show kids words that rhyme together。 。。。more

“There was a cold lady who swallowed some snow。 I don’t know why she swallowed some snow。 Perhaps you know。” Ok, the “There was an old lady” song isn’t the most logical to begin with, but it made a lot more sense than this。 In their attempt to get her to swallow all the ingredients to makes snowman, they did an admirable job of making it rhyme but it was very forced。 That being said, my son would probably have thought it was hilarious but I have no desire to read it again so it failed my test of “There was a cold lady who swallowed some snow。 I don’t know why she swallowed some snow。 Perhaps you know。” Ok, the “There was an old lady” song isn’t the most logical to begin with, but it made a lot more sense than this。 In their attempt to get her to swallow all the ingredients to makes snowman, they did an admirable job of making it rhyme but it was very forced。 That being said, my son would probably have thought it was hilarious but I have no desire to read it again so it failed my test of being enjoyable to both parent and child and fun to read again and again。 。。。more

The girls and I thoroughly enjoyed this story! Lexi, who is 6, was able to read the entire book to us! She was so happy and of course I am thrilled for her! This cold lady sure does like to eat! She swallowed some snow, a pipe, some coal, a hat, a stick, and a scarf!Guess what she is making? No, won't tell you!A very fun book for a snow day or any day you want a " belly laugh!" This book is fun to read of the rhyming and rhythm to the book but, it truly has no purpose besides giving children bad ideas。 Well, I don't actually think a child would try to swallow a hat but I genuinely don't get the point of it。 This book is fun to read of the rhyming and rhythm to the book but, it truly has no purpose besides giving children bad ideas。 Well, I don't actually think a child would try to swallow a hat but I genuinely don't get the point of it。 。。。more

I am in love with this book! When I read this for the first time, I did not realize that that the cold lady was swallowing objects that would make something。 I was about two pages from the ending when I said "oh my gosh, she's swallowing a _____!" This made it so much fun for me to read。 I was a little confused at first, but once it clicked, I was so excited! That is what I love about this book; it made me so engaged that I got excited for the end。 This book is perfect for the winter season and I am in love with this book! For: nonsense/winter fans; readers looking for a book that builds off of itself。Possible red flags: silliness; gluttony。

One little old lady book is enough。 This one is just awful。 The items make no sense, the rhymes don't follow the meter。 Uggh。 The kids liked the nonsense。 One little old lady book is enough。 This one is just awful。 The items make no sense, the rhymes don't follow the meter。 Uggh。 The kids liked the nonsense。 。。。more

My soon to be 1st grader read this with no problem。 This book is a repeat of words throughout the book。 If your not familiar with this series of books 。。。。 a old woman swallows a list of items that leaves the reader to guess what she’s going to burp up at the end。 This book is the cold woman swallows snow, corn cob pipe, coal, hat, scarf。。。and out comes a snowman。

The entire series, which parodies "There Was an Old Lady Who Swallowed a Fly," is familiar and fun for young readers。 Usually pairs well with a fun craft project; in this case a snowman。 The entire series, which parodies "There Was an Old Lady Who Swallowed a Fly," is familiar and fun for young readers。 Usually pairs well with a fun craft project; in this case a snowman。 。。。more

There is such a thing as thing as taking something too far and this book is it! The cold lady swallows snow, who knows why, but then she swallows a pipe and some coal。 It just gets worse from there。 (view spoiler)[Eventually she barfs up a snowman complete with coal eyes and a pipe (hide spoiler)], but despite the fun ending, the story is just gross。 I won't be using it in story time。 There is such a thing as thing as taking something too far and this book is it! This is a silly book where a lady keeps swallowing things。 I did like the surprise ending。 Kids will probably like this and it would be a good read-aloud for class participation。 Recommended for Grades K-2。2nd review。。。Another cute version of the basic story。 This time the lady keeps swallowing things in winter to make a surprise later on。 There is always a nice twist at the end of this series。 Whimsical and colorful illustrations will keep kids laughing。 A great read-aloud book for younger chil This is a silly book where a lady keeps swallowing things。 I did like the surprise ending。 Kids will probably like this and it would be a good read-aloud for class participation。 Recommended for Grades K-2。2nd review。。。Another cute version of the basic story。 This time the lady keeps swallowing things in winter to make a surprise later on。 There is always a nice twist at the end of this series。 Whimsical and colorful illustrations will keep kids laughing。 A great read-aloud book for younger children。 Highly recommended for Grades K-2。 。。。more

I was totally not expecting that ending lol With each "meal", I kept wondering why the Cold Lady kept swallowing such objects and then it all made sense!
